In September, I was lucky enough to be invited to spend a weekend with a lovely couple on Vinalhaven (they even included my husband and dog!!).  It had been on my list of "places I want to go", and it did not disappoint.  It is a magical place with interesting rock formations and beautiful evergreen trees - islands emerging from the water.  One morning, fairly early, we took out the canoes and kayaks and explored.  the light was beautiful and the waters so calm.  This is one of the paintings inspired by that trip.
